Pocket Roomby LectureRoom
Talk and chat with phones nearby. No internet needed.
Phones on the same Wi-Fi or hotspot link straight to each other. No laptop, no server, no account.
Checking this phone...Another phone sent you an invitation. Type your name, then tap Join a room.
How it works
- Once, with internet: open this page and add it to your home screen. After that it works with no internet.
- Turn on Wi-Fi or a hotspot. Everyone joins the same one. It does not need internet.
- Link two phones: one taps Start a room then Add a phone and shows a code. The other scans it, then shows a reply code back.
- Add more phones the same way. Each new phone links to one, and the rest connect to it on their own.
Add it to your home screen
This saves Pocket Room on your phone so it opens with no internet.
Android (Chrome): tap the three dots, then Install app or Add to Home screen.
iPhone (Safari): tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen.
iPhone (Safari): tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen.
Honest limits
- Phones must be on the same Wi-Fi or hotspot. Some public or guest Wi-Fi blocks phones from seeing each other. A phone hotspot works well.
- Up to 8 phones in one room. For a bigger class, use LectureRoom Wi-Fi Rooms.
- Scanning a code inside the app works on most phones. If yours cannot, scan with the Camera app, or copy and paste the code.
- Keep the app open on screen while you talk. Phones pause apps that are in the background.
- Voice and text are encrypted between phones. Anyone who sees your code can try to join, so show it only to people next to you.
